University Concert Hall is delighted to once again programme its Compton Theatre Organ, in situ since the venue’s inception in 1993 but which was silent from 1999 until 2021.
Join us as renowned organist Rónán Murray performs accompaniment to the classic silent film The Phantom of the Opera, in celebration of the film’s 100th anniversary.
In this highly influential silent horror film, a mysterious phantom haunts the Paris Opera House. The phantom threatens a famous lyric singer, Carlotta, and forces her to give up her role for unknown performer Christine Daae. Christine encounters this masked phantom in the catacombs, and sets out to uncover his secrets.
Directed by Rupert Julian, Lon Chaney, and Ernst Laemmle. Starring Lon Chaney, Mary Philbin, and Norman Kerry.
