Performing Artists : Beth McNinch (Viola) Lance Coburn (Piano)
Beth McNinch (ARAM) is an esteemed Irish Violist, Producer, Educator, and Artistic Director, known for her ability to craft compelling programmes that balance classical favourites with lesser-known gems. Beth is passionate about collaboration across artistic genres. This spirit of innovation is at the heart of her company, Musici Ireland, an acclaimed Chamber Collective and interdisciplinary production house. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music, and has performed for the London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has appeared in principal viola positions with the Irish National Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, English National Ballet, Ulster Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. In the past couple of years, Beth has made her directorial debut with two major Musici Ireland productions: A Mother’s Voice, a multi-media performance honouring women affected by Ireland’s Mother-and-Baby homes, and Chronically Hopeful, an interdisciplinary work, exploring themes of invisible disability through music, movement and spoken word.
Lance Coburn : Since winning first prize at the Tomassoni International Piano Competition, Cologne in 2001, Lance has performed in multiple countries over all five continents. He has been the recipient of many first prizes, including the Hephizibah Menuhin Scholarship, the inaugural Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition and the Australian Young Performers’ Award (Keyboard Section), culminating in a performance of Liszt’s 1st Piano Concerto with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, in the Sydney Opera House, which was also broadcast live across Australia on ABC Television. Classical releases include Michele Esposito Violin and Cello Sonatas with Champs Hill, Tchaikovsky Solo Piano Works ‘Potpourri’ with Naxos, Solo Piano Works of Carl Vine with Modal Citizen Records and just recently the complete works for Cello and Piano by Beethoven with William Butt on the Guild Label. A passionate educator, Lance has been a full-time faculty member of the Royal Irish Academy of Music since 2005. He is a regular Adjudicator in National and International Music Festivals and is in much demand for piano masterclasses
