Performing Artists: John Walsh (Flamenco Guitar), David Power (Uilleann Pipes), Marja Gaynor (Baroque Violin)
John Walsh, Ireland’s leading Flamenco guitarist, joins uilleann piper David Power and Marja Gaynor on baroque violin, for a night of unique music and arrangements.
They perform a programme featuring their own arrangements of traditional Irish tunes, Flamenco and Contemporary music, as well as music from the Baroque period and the 19th century.
As a soloist, John Walsh has performed nationally and internationally, including at the Paco de Lucia Guitar festival in Algeciras, Spain, The National Opera House, Wexford and the National Concert Hall in Dublin. He has been commissioned to compose music for Ballet Ireland and Riverdance amongst others.
David Power’s show credits include off-Broadway ‘Love’s Pure Light’, the Irish Repertory Theatre’s ‘The Field’ and Eugene O’Neill’s ‘A Touch of the Poet’ on Broadway. Power regularly performs with Willie Kelly and Martin Hayes and Harpist Triona Marshall, presents recitals with organist Malcolm Proud and performs with baroque group Camerata Kilkenny.
Originally from Finland, Marja Gaynor is a Cork-based violinist and viola player. She specialises in Baroque music and plays with various Irish and European Ensembles, including the Irish Baroque Orchestra and Camerata Kilkenny, but is also known as a versatile musician in many different styles, a fluent improviser, arranger and curator. She has performed and recorded with various Irish bands and Artists.
