Few artists are as deeply woven into Ireland’s musical life as Irish pianist John O’Conor. For decades, his performances have captivated audiences with their poetic clarity and authority particularly in Beethoven’s repertoire.
Widely regarded as a leading Beethoven interpreter, his many performances and recordings of the complete piano sonatas earned international acclaim. Awarded the NCH Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, O’Conor’s legacy extends beyond the stage to his teaching and nurturing the next generation of performers. Celebrating his 80th birthday, this concert honours both his remarkable career and his love of Beethoven, as National Symphony Orchestra Ireland celebrates Beethoven’s 200th anniversary year.
