Mountain View High School Orchestra
Youth String Orchestra – Comprised of students (15-18 years old) from Mountain View High School, California, USA
The String Orchestra of Mountain View High School, California, USA, is part of the extensive instrumental music department of the school – which also include ensembles like a Marching Band, Jazz band, Winter Percussion and a Sound Pep Band. Under the direction of Jason Kneebone the String Orchestra will perform a variety of works such as a special commissioned piece by David Close – which will be performed together with the Limerick School of Music Choir. Also performing during this concert is the Limerick School of Music Senior Orchestra.
LSOM Senior Orchestra
Over the past number of years, under the leadership of David O’ Connell and Martine Barry, the School’s Senior Orchestra have performed all over Ireland, highlights including the National Concert Hall Dublin, City Hall Cork and UCH Limerick.
The orchestra consists of 80 Limerick’s finest student musicians, ranging in age from 10 to adult, who meet once a week to rehearse. Since September 2014 the orchestra has been under the direction of Anna Jane Ryan and a team of tutors. The orchestra’s most recent ventures include hugely successful collaborations with Cork ETB Youth Orchestra, Galway Youth Orchestra and St Pius V High School. Other recent performances include concerts in UCH and Millennium Theatre, Limerick, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick and Seapoint Ballroom, Galway.
