Summer Proms

This year UL Orchestra celebrates it’s 25th year in operation. The orchestra started in 1992 in a small room on campus with 23 members and the inaugural concert was to mark the first year of the Schrodinger building being in use.To mark this occasion we are going to perform The Green Brook Suite by Holst which was one of the first pieces performed by this Orchestra 25 years ago.

We have a fantastic summer prom concert planned. We are very glad to have Maria Ryan as our soloist playing the Mozart Violin Concerto in A Major.

We will also be performing a piece that is being specially commissioned for ULO to mark the 25th Anniversary. This is being composed by Anne-Marie O’Farrell who is composer in residence in Mary Immaculate College.

We will also be performing The Moldau by Smetana

In the spirit of the Proms we shall also be playing some Marches and some Waltzes including Radetzky March (Strauss), Prima Vera Waltz (Strauss) and Waltz from Masquerade (Khachaturian).
